Bacteria Series - Magnifying Glass of Life
2023/2026

Bacteria Series *Magnifying Glass of Life*

From the French *bactérie*,

Scientific Latin *bacterium*,

Greek βακτήριον *baktḗrion*.

This series emerged from an introspective process marked by an experience of physical vulnerability, where painting surfaced as an act of resistance and vital reconnection. In Bacteria – Magnifying Glass of Life, organic life, invisible to the naked eye, becomes a metaphor for the ancestral, the intuitive, and the symbolic.

The works evoke microscopic organisms, bacteria, and primordial life forms that, when magnified, reveal not only their structure but also their narrative potential. Through figurative creatures inspired by living beings, Afro-Indigenous mythologies, and imagined creations such as flamingos, mythical serpents, Guinea fowl, spiritual beings, and other symbolic entities, the paintings build visual narratives of care, fertility, mutation, and protection.

The series proposes a deep observation of what cannot be seen but nevertheless inhabits, nourishes, and affects: what has remained at the margins without disappearing, acting as living memory and a silent force.

In its ongoing expansion, Bacteria – Invisible Symbiosis, this universe grows toward the idea of symbiosis as an encounter between forms of life, knowledge, and sensibilities that coexist even if they have been historically concealed. Here, bacteria refer not only to microscopic life, but also to invisible ties between the Afro and the Indigenous, understood as seeds of possible futures that continue transforming the present from what is hidden.
